Playa Blanca is an old fishing village which has been developed into a relatively upscale resort town. We would recommend this accommodation for persone who are looking for the peace and quiet of an independent detached villa but who don’t want to be dependent on a car for shopping, dining and day trips. The beauty of this location is that, as long as you enjoy walking, you can simply walk into town, to Faro Park, or to the start of the 8km long promenade that runs the full length of the resort. There are several protected coves along this stretch, including three world-class Papagayo beaches.
If you feel like going further afield, you can take a daytrip over to the surf town of Corralejo in Fuerteventura, or to Isla de los Lobos (Wolf Island).
All in all Villa Eleonor is a good fuss-free base for taking in those volcanic landscapes and the breath-taking sunsets for which Lanzarote is famous, while keeping the bustle of the resort town itself at arm’s length. And if you are not in great shape, or with small children, there are plenty of opportunities for a pleasant stroll rather than a gruelling hike.
